Hello! My name is Megan, owner & operator of The Knines Luxury pet hotel. I moved to Cypress, Texas in 2025 and opened The Knines in 2026. I grew up on a farm outside of a logging town in the foothills of the Cascade mountains in Washington State. I learned early on our family farm that caring for animals is a 24/7 commitment that should be carried out with love and personal responsibility. From caring for animals on the farm to playing in the forest with our family dogs, I grew up surrounded by creatures big and small, and knew that animals would always be an important part of my life.
At 19 years old I began boarding and training dogs out of my home in Beaverton, Oregon, and since then I’ve tried my hand at so many other things, but always return to working with animals. Along the way, I found my second passion: travel. There is nothing more beautiful than the earth we live on, and I think everyone should take a pinch of spare time here and there to explore it. However, if you’re like me and you always have a pet or two at home, it can be difficult to take off at the drop of a hat, and I found it nerve-wracking and stressful to leave my animals in traditional pet care settings.
I created The Knines because I believe our little loved ones deserve a vacation just as joyful and soothing as our own. I wanted to bring the same nurturing, homestyle comfort I grew up with and combine it with the luxury service of the hotels we visit while traveling. Animals are family to me, and I believe they deserve the same comfort, attention, patience and understanding as our own children. I hand select and personally train every Knines caregiver to ensure their values towards animals align with my own.
